I apologize for the delay in posts these past two weeks. It’s been a little hectic and busy with work and some other cool things that I have in the works! Anyways, today’s blog post is all about mastering the art of wearing patterned pants.

What inspired this blog post was the fact that I just bought these crazily patterned pants from Anthropologie the other day. Long story short, when I was in high school, probably my sophomore year I believe, I bought some patterned pants from Anthropologie that I featured in this blog post.

When I initially bought them, I was nervous about wearing them because I was worried about what people would think. I’ll admit it!

It really wasn’t until I got to college and kind of came into my own that I finally realized that I didn’t care what people thought about them, and I was going to rock them all day, every day! Well, not literally, but you catch my drift.

Since buying those pants, I’ve been on the hunt for another pair similar to them, but I’ve come up short. Let me rephrase that: I’ve been looking for new patterned pants since I was 16 years old, sooooooo that’s quite a fair chunk of time to be searching for a new pair.

Although I still have my ~vintage~ pair of patterned pants, I stumbled upon this pair and immediately fell in love!

I had my eye on them for awhile, but for some reason I never felt inclined to try them on. But, one day I decided that I was going to try on every single thing that I thought I would love, that way I could see if I loved or hated them.

These pants immediately fell into the LOVE category!

I think that the biggest thing to wrap your mind around when buying patterned pants is that you shouldn’t be afraid to wear them. Letting other people’s opinions dictate what you decide to wear is not cool, so just do your own thing and wear what you want!

Second, when it comes to styling a pair of patterned pants, simplicity is key. I always opt to pair mine with a neutral color, whether that be white, black, moss green, or a taupe. I think that sticking to that color range is your best bet for easily integrating a pair of patterned pants into your wardrobe.

Finally, the crazier the pattern, the better! This is definitely something that I’ve come to love over time, as I’ve become more comfortable wearing this particular trend. But honestly, there is no better feeling than putting on a crazy pair of pants that are super loud and obnoxious in their color and pattern! I seriously love it!

In other news, I think that this is my first blog post ever that my hair hasn’t been down in waves. How crazy is that?! I feel much more free when I’m wearing my hair down, as corny as that sounds! But, I was in a huge rush and had no time to tame my mane of bedhead, so this was my best option.

This braid is such a simple and quick option for any bad hair days that you may encounter. You can either part the hair right down the middle or to one of the sides. Create two french braids and tie them off with clear elastics, with about half of your hair being left unbraided.

From there, simply wrap the hair into a bun and wah-la! Your hair is completed! I never put any product into my hair after I’ve got it up and braided. I personally hate hairspray and the way that it makes my hair feel. But, I think a light spritz of it would definitely help to hold the hair in place!

Well, that’s all I’ve got for ya today. A super quick post, but hopefully a useful one for anyone looking to rock some patterned pants in the near future.
