Welcome back to Stylishly Good Vibes!
I’m back today to give you all my rundown of my favorite products for the month. I’m super excited about the ones that I’ll be showcasing today, so I hope you will be as well!
As always, all of these products are suggestions, and you should only try products that you feel comfortable trying. It’s all about figuring out what sorts of things work for you, but I hope that by reading my reviews, you can gather a little insight on what sorts of products you would enjoy using!
If you have any questions about any of the products, feel free to comment below or get in touch with me via email!
Onward!
1. REVIVAL Boho Babe Sea Salt Spray – $15
This is a local Cleveland company, and you know me — I’m all about supporting local businesses! I recently included REVIVAL’s detox mask in July’s Top Picks, which was a product that I absolutely loved! After going to the Cleveland Flea this past weekend, I decided that I wanted to try another one of their products, so I settled on the sea salt spray.
I’ve been on the hunt for a solid sea salt spray since I finished my last bottle of a rather expensive option. Being the broke-post-college-grad that I am, I decided it probably wouldn’t be the wisest decision to splurge almost $30 on a hair product purely for the brand name.
When it comes to hair products, I love knowing that the products I’m putting on my hair contain ingredients that I can actually pronounce. That’s just my two cents for ya — if you can’t even pronounce an ingredient in a product you’re considering buying, chances are it’s probably not that great to be putting into your body in the first place.
Back on track, what I love about REVIVAL’s Sea Salt Spray is that it doesn’t leave your hair feeling sticky or stiff, which is something I’ve experienced with other products. All I’ve ever wanted is a sea salt spray that has the same effect as the ocean, minus the dehydration and crunchy feeling that sea water can have on hair.
REVIVAL’s Sea Salt Spray is the ideal lightweight spray for anyone looking for loose waves that radiate with that just-got-back-from-the-beach vibe.
2. Glam & Grace’s Shimmer Shadow Eyeshadow Quad in City Lights – $25
This is another local company based in Akron that I fell in love with after coming across them at the Cleveland Flea! I featured their Shimmer Shadow in June’s Top Picks, and because I loved that shadow so much and still have tons of it left, I decided to add to my collection by purchasing the eyeshadow quad.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve definitely shied away from dark eyeshadow colors and opted more for champagnes, silvers and golds instead. For me and my personal style, those colors just coordinate well with any look I’m trying to pull together.
What I love about Glam & Grace’s eyeshadows is that I don’t have to worry about using a primer before applying them. I always put a couple strokes of eyeshadow on before I leave for work and it’s still intact by the time I get home, even after running around all day.
I’m so excited about this eyeshadow quad, and I’m already planning how I’m going to blend the colors together for the ultimate fall makeup look! I’ll have more on that as the official beginning of fall gets a little closer.
In my opinion, what separates companies like Glam & Grace from big makeup companies is that you never have to worry about how their products are made, or how long ago they were concocted.
All of Glam & Grace’s products are made in small batches, which ensures that you’re getting the best of the best. In addition to that, Glam & Grace never tests on animals, and all of their products are paraben and preservative free, so you really do know what you’re buying!
3. Peach Slices’ Acne Spot Dots – $4.49 for 30 dots
For someone who has suffered with acne for years, I’m super pumped that there’s such an innovative product like this on the market! As I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, I’m obsessed with the company Peach & Lily. I literally buy 80% of my skincare items from them, so when I saw these Acne Spot Dots on Teen Vogue’s Acne Awards 2017, I was all in to try them!
What’s so cool about these little dots is that you simply apply one of the three sizes of dots to cover an entire zit, and you let it sit there for eight hours before removing it. You can even apply makeup over it because it’s transparent! How nifty is that?! I love products like this because they get me so excited about using them!
Instead of spot treatments, which I know from personal experience can either be a win-win solution or a lose-lose one, these spot dots are gentle enough for my sensitive skin. Most spot treatments contain harsh ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, which irritates my skin like no other.
I haven’t felt any irritation whatsoever from using these spot dots, but like any product, it’s always a good idea to test one on the top of the hand to ensure you don’t have a negative reaction to it.
Also, if you’ve ever used a spot treatment, you know how it goes — you keep applying a cream-based treatment every few hours only to wake up the following morning to have excessively dry skin in that spot. Yup, happens to me all the time.
But the acne spot dots are totally different. To me, they’re sort of similar to how a bandage operates. You put it overtop of an injury with some antibacterial ointment on it and within a day or so, the injury looks significantly better than it did before you applied the bandage.
That’s how these acne spot dots operate.
They keep all of the nasty acne germs underneath the spot dot, and work to clear out that existing bacteria within the eight hours that you’re wearing it.
If you’re questioning whether they’re the right acne spot treatment for you, just read the reviews on their website. That’s what I do before I buy any product because it’s such an awesome way to see what people are actually thinking about it!
4. Clinique’s Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate – $39
Now, this is only the sample size of this product, but it’s definitely one that I’m planning on buying the full size of as soon as I finish the sample! When it comes to skincare, I’m all about prevention, especially when it comes to premature aging. I think we sometimes forget that the skin is the body’s largest organ, so it’s important to take super good care of it!
Lack of moisture is one of the most preventable signs of aging, in my opinion. When your skin gets super dry, cracked or flaky, it opens the door for it to become more susceptible to environmental factors that affect the aging process of the skin.
In response to my little rant about making sure to moisturize your skin, this concentrate has added another level to my skincare routine in regard to preventing the aging process. I’ve only been using this at night, which I’ve found to be suitable for my skin type. I personally don’t think that there’s such a thing as over-moisturizing, especially with my skin.
I put a raisin-sized amount of this concentrate on before I follow up with my moisturizer. It has a gel consistency to it, but it smoothes out as soon as you rub it in. Within the four days that I’ve been using this product, I’ve noticed that my skin doesn’t look as tired and dull when I wake up in the morning.
My second two cents of this month’s Top Picks — Never say no to free samples! Always check up on your favorite makeup brands and see when they have sales that offer free gifts with purchases. Clinique does that sort of thing fairly often, so it’s relatively easy to try their products and see if they work for you.
Although this concentrate is definitely on the higher end price-wise, one thing that I usually never compromise on is skincare products. If it works wonders for my combination dry-and-oily skin, then I’m all for it!
5. Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in Sassy Mauve – $9
Lipstick is just one of those makeup items that I’ve never been able to justify splurging on. I’ve had incredible experiences with Revlon lipsticks in all the years that I’ve used them, so I’ve never really felt the need to divert myself away from using them.
I wear lipstick every single day, no matter what. It’s by far one of my favorite products to use. Lipstick can take any simple or toned-down makeup look up ten notches, just by adding a pop of color. Personally, I haven’t gotten into the matte lipstick trend, which is why I love that Revlon has their Super Lustrous lipstick line.
For my life, I feel like having more of a glossy finish with my lipstick is more practical. I have nothing against matte lipstick! I just don’t think that it’s really ~me~ ya know?
Anyways, one of the things that I’ve always loved about Revlon’s lipsticks is that they’re super pigmented and the color stays on all day without having to be reapplied every two hours. Not to mention, it also keeps my lips moisturized, which is a biggie for me. I hate that feeling when you’re wearing lipstick and your lips feel all dry and gross. But, I never experience that feeling with Revlon’s lipstick.
This particular product comes in so many awesome shades, but I chose Sassy Mauve because I thought it would be the ideal transitional color moving from summer into early fall.
Well, that’s all I’ve got for ya! I’ve got a playlist linked up to coordinate with this blog post. I’ve also decided to make monthly Spotify playlists, so follow me if music’s your thing!
Until next time, thanks a bunch for reading! You guys are all amazing!
Keep spreadin’ those good vibes!
