Fresh Favorites | Shoes for Summer

Happy Monday to you all! I hope that your day has been pleasant so far! To start this blog post, I wanted to explain the origin of my obsession with shoes. I’ve told this story on the blog before, but I figured I would tell it really quick because it’s kind of funny, but mostly stupid, on my part!

As an adult, you don’t really think to have your feet measured once you reach high school. You just buy the next shoe size up and that’s that. Well, for the longest time I was wearing shoes in a certain size, then I went to get my feet measured for new running shoes and it turned out I was wearing shoes that were one size too small!

I know, how does one not know that their shoes are too small? I honestly can’t even answer that without sounding like an idiot! I guess my best answer would be that I probably got so used to smashing my feet into shoes that I never thought twice about it.

Well, here we are, about a year later, and I’m still in the process of accumulating new shoes that are actually the right size, which brings me to today’s blog post.

I never noticed until I took these pictures that the majority of the shoes I own fall within the same color palette: tan and cream. I can’t help it though — they go with everything! The shoes that I chose for today’s post are ones that I know I’ll be living in this summer. So, let’s get started!

Cole Haan Zerogrand Platform Leather Sandal

After posting these shoes on my Instagram, I’ve been flooded with questions. I bought them at Nordstrom Rack and they are by far my favorite pair at the moment. The best part about shoe shopping at Nordstrom Rack is that you can always find amazing, high-quality shoes for a decent price, like these ones. Plus — they have lots of shoes for people with gargantuan feet like me.

The platform is just high enough to add a little height, and the sole is so comfortable and bouncy, making them perfect for running errands or exploring a new city.

Kona Slip-On Loafer

I definitely jumped on the bandwagon with these shoes, but could you blame me! They’re so simple and easy to wear, which is big in my book. I’ve had these shoes since March, but I’m so excited to get more use out of them this summer. The slip-on loafer is the epitome of summer style, and I’m forever on board with this trend!

These shoes have to be second on my list of favorites! I always loved the look of the classic checkered Vans, but as you’ve probably noticed, I don’t really wear much black. I don’t know why — I just love color so much! Anyways, when I saw these in tan on Urban Outfitters’ website, y’all knew they were already in my cart in t-minus two seconds.

Vans are awesome if you have weirdly-sized feet, or if you have trouble finding shoes in your size. Every time that I’ve looked at their shoes on different e-commerce websites, they’ve always had a stocked inventory of all sizes.

Birkenstock Mayari Slide

The thing about Birkenstocks is you either love them or hate them, and that’s totally fine! I personally love them because I’m all about comfort, especially in the summer, and these are perfect for traveling. I wore my last pair as I trekked across Italy and they kept my feet at ease with all the miles I was walking each day.

I’m that weird person who tells everyone that I’m going to have a Birkenstock wedding. Like, the entire bridal party can have the option of wearing their Birkenstocks because then they wouldn’t have to worry about changing into more comfortable shoes. It’s a great idea, I think! Or maybe I’m just nuts. Oh well!

Time to get shoe shopping, friends! My all-time favorite places to look for shoes if you’re in the market for a new pair include the following: Nordstrom Rack, Clarks, Dillards, Urban Outfitters and Dr. Martens. If you have any questions about the shoes that I mentioned above, don’t hesitate to reach out to me!

Have an awesome start to your week!
