The Month Ahead | May Intentions

Hello there, friends, and Happy May! I can’t believe that summer is almost here. May is my favorite month of the year, behind October that is. During the month of May, the trees are finally starting to shine bright with their new green leaves, and gardens are full of flowers and fresh crops. I just love it!

If you’ve followed along with my blog this year, you’ll probably remember that I started a Monthly Intentions series a couple months ago. It’s still in the testing phase, as I’m slowly starting to realize what sorts of things I want to talk about in these posts. I decided to change it up from last month and try something new.

This month, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite quotes of the moment, and explaining how they relate to my own life and what we can all learn from them. As always, I’m here to chat if you ever need someone to bounce ideas off of!

Just because you’re busy, doesn’t mean you’re successful.

I actually saw this quote on Instagram the other day, and I was immediately like, “Whoa, that’s deep.” I’m always pushing myself to be better and to do better. I love learning and trying new things, but I also know that there are a lot of things I need to remain accountable for.

In college, I kind of got into this mindset that if I wasn’t busy being involved in organizations or other extracurriculars, then I wasn’t really successful. Let me tell youthat’s not a cool place to be in! Being busy doesn’t mean shit, in my opinion. If you’re busy, you’re busy. It isn’t a determining factor as to if you’ll be successful or not. Determination, confidence and a little magic determine more about your level of success than being busy. So, this month I’m actively trying to slow down and remember that just because I take on more responsibilities, doesn’t mean I will be successful at them all.

Be patient with yourself. Nothing in nature blooms all year.

In life, we all have our own ideas about how our lives will turn out and what kind of person we will grow up to be. But let me tell you something, things change, and that’s okay! You should never feel like you have to go in a certain direction with your career simply because people think that you should. Forge your own path and run it!

I mean hey, learn from what I’ve experienced! Everyone was fully convinced I was going to work for a magazine in NYC after graduation, but I was like, “nah, fam.” It’s not because I don’t want to do that kind of thing anymore, because I’m always open to new opportunities. But, I never wanted to just do something to give people the satisfaction of knowing my next move, ya feel me? This month, I’m going to start learning to accept that although I may not be in the right place in my career, I’ll find it eventually.

Every beautiful thing you say to someone becomes a part of them and you.

Be kind to people! I cannot emphasize that enough. Trust me, we all have had our moments where we haven’t been the kindest to people around us. As much as we can regret the things we may have said or done in the past, the best thing that we can do moving forward is be genuinely kind to this universe of awesomeness. This month, I am going to go out of my way to meet new people and to reach out to old friends.

Well, that is all I have for Monthly Intentions! I hope that you all enjoyed this month’s, and I’m looking forward to sharing June’s with you soon!

Have an amazing Wednesday, friends! Woohoo, halfway through the work week!

Alicia ❤
