How To Style A Monochromatic Outfit

Helloooo and Happy Monday, friends! I hope that you all had a splendid weekend full of good vibes! This past weekend was so much fun for me because I got to re-familiarize myself with my hometown by going to some cool places and hanging out with awesome people. All in all, it feels great to be back in Cleveland!

With the official start of fall on the horizon, I decided now was the perfect time to share a blog post about styling a monochromatic outfit. A couple weeks ago, I saw this monochromatic look of various pink hues on Pinterest and I was instantly inspired. As much as I wish I could recreate a similar look, I don’t have much pink in my wardrobe — so I opted for blue instead!

For this outfit, I knew I wanted to wear this chambray embroidered shirt* that I received from Caite. I love that it takes a simple chambray and turns it into something fun and bold with the brightly-colored embroidery across the chest. The medium wash of this chambray works perfectly for this outfit, although I definitely think that a lighter wash would work as well.

My dark wash Hudson skinny jeans were a no-brainer to pair with this top, not just because they’re the only jeans I like right now, but because the combination of the washes is just what I was going for! There are two jean brands that I always recommend to people who ask and they are Levi’s and Hudson. Yes, they’re on the pricier side of denim, but they last for years.

Example A: the Hudson jeans I’m wearing today are from three years ago. They’ve basically paid for themselves at this point!

What better way to complete this monochromatic look then with my Dr. Martens that have blue detailing on them. I remember when I found these babies on the Dr. Marten website about three winters ago. I was obsessedand still am! I bought these in the closest whole size to my half size and they fit perfectly, even with chunky socks or leg warmers!

A monochromatic outfit is so much simpler to style then people give it credit for — plus, I bet you already have items in your closet to try it! I think that blue monochrome is a pretty safe option since many of us have a variety of blue in our closets from jeans to denim jackets. Now, this blue monochrome look doesn’t and shouldn’t go all Canadian tuxedo. It’s important to be able to distinguish the different hues of your blues that you pair together!

On a side note, this time of year is perfect for cleaning out your closet and making room for fall and winter clothes. It’s also an awesome time to prepare piles or bags of clothes to donate locally. I love donating my clothes because I know that they will become a part of someone else’s story as they have been mine. It’s like a never-ending clothes storyline! I don’t know — I’m weird!

Well, that’s all I have for ya today! I’ll be back on the blog on Wednesday with another new blog post for you! Stay tuned for more on Stylishly Good Vibes!
