Spend a Weekend In Lexington with Me

Welcome back to stylishly good vibes! I think we’re due for a fun travel blog, so let’s jump into a weekend in Lexington! When my cousin chose Lexington as the destination for her wedding, my first thought was, “Lexington? I don’t even know what’s there other than horses.” Well, needless to say, I was sorely mistaken. Don’t get me wrong, there are a ton of horses, but the area has so much more to offer!

Proud Mary BBQ

We went here for BBQ our first night in town, and although it was about a 25-minute drive from where we were staying, it was SO worth it. It’s a riverside restaurant with cool bridges in both directions! I’ve had a lot of BBQ in my life, but this was truly some of the best. I loved the pork brisket, baked beans, and coleslaw.

The Manchester

The welcome party for the wedding was hosted here, and it was just what you would imagine a boutique hotel in Lexington to look like. A beautiful brick facade, warm tones throughout the interior, with inviting leather sofas and patterned fabrics. I highly recommend coming for a pre-dinner drink if you’re in the area.

Buffalo Trace Distillery

I wouldn’t classify myself as a bourbon person, but I’m always down to explore and try something new. My family and I stopped by the Buffalo Trace Distillery for a tasting, which was completely free! They offer tours as well, but just doing the tasting was enough in my opinion.

They have free samples scattered throughout the gift shop, and the second floor of the building is where the main tasting happens. We tried about six or seven different bourbons and one vodka. They serve them in teeny tiny shot glasses, so it’s definitely not enough for you to feel anything! The grounds of the distillery were also so cool and historic. I highly recommend visiting, whether you’re into bourbon or not.

Mami Monchitas

After we left Buffalo Trace Distillery, we were looking for somewhere to get lunch. I randomly found this Honduran restaurant nearby, and holy moly, I’m still thinking about this meal over a month later. It was authentic, delicious, and so fresh! I ordered the pupusas, which are corn-based patties stuffed with all kinds of savory fillings. They were out of this world—so much so that my phone didn’t eat first, and I didn’t even think to take a picture because they were gone in five minutes!

Brevede Coffee Co.

If you’re on the hunt for a cute and trendy coffee shop on the north end of Lexington, this is a great option! The decor was super light and airy, and the drinks were delicious. We stopped here for an afternoon pick-me-up, and their iced caramel latte was divine.

Xalapa Farms

This is the venue where my cousin had her wedding, and it’s a must-see if you find yourself near Paris, KY. It’s a horse farm that dates back to 1827. There’s so much history surrounding this farm, and as a wedding venue, it was absolutely breathtaking. We had the best weather (75 and breezy), and the setup was so well thought out. We even got to see a few horses out in the paddocks, which you know I loved!

Well, that’s all I have for you! A quick weekend spent in Lexington—I’ll definitely be back one day!

Until next time!
