Stylishly Good Vibes in Asheville

All Aboard to Asheville

Hi, friends! I know I said I would be sharing more since my last post on the blog, but that was in June and it’s now October . . . let’s just say that life had other plans! If you guessed by the title of this post, or you follow me on social media, you know that I recently made the move to Asheville, North Carolina! I figured I could use today’s post to give you an idea of how I got here and what I’m most excited about.

Where It All Began

Flashback to early 2022, I knew the time had come to start looking for a new job. But, as many of us have come to know, finding a new job sounds a lot easier than it actually is. I casually started looking, turning down opportunities because they just didn’t feel right or the circumstances of the offer were unrealistic. It just seemed to go on, and on, and on.

I was looking for jobs in a variety of different cities that were of interest to me because I didn’t have a particular location that I was dead-set on being.

For some, that might seem odd or risky, but that’s just who I am! I can adapt to any environment—or any city—so I was open to wherever an opportunity presented itself.

Making Moves

By the time July rolled around, I was very ready to find a new job. I was so frustrated with my former job situation—and when I was told it would be in my “best interest” to bring my laptop on vacation with me, I was so done.

When I got back from that very vacation, I hit the ground running with applying for jobs. I had been interviewing with a couple places when I stumbled upon a job posting shared by someone I went to college with. I’m so beyond grateful to her for posting that job because it’s the job I have now!

Did You Say Asheville?

When I applied for the job and saw that it was in Asheville, I was really excited about it. I felt like Asheville was very much my vibe and would be the adventure I had been craving for so many months. So, when I was offered the job, of course I said yes!

I kept it very hush hush at the beginning—choosing to only tell family and close friends. There wasn’t really a reason for that. I just felt like it would be awkward to tell friends who I hadn’t seen in months that I was picking up my entire life and moving hours away! So, I didn’t make a huge announcement outside of my immediate circle, and I’m glad I did it that way.

It allowed me to be super present without worrying about outside opinions.

A New Beginning

I officially became an Ashevillian a little over a week ago! I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders the second I got here. Searching for a new job and being unhappy in my old job took up so much time and energy in the first half of 2022. To now be settled down, in a new town, with a job I love, feels so good.

Of course new beginnings are scary, but I’m excited for what’s to come. I want to make Asheville a home. Unlike when I lived in Myrtle Beach, Asheville just feels different. Myrtle Beach was a stint. Asheville is a lifestyle!

So, that’s my life update! And I promise—I will be back on the blog regularly and back to creating for my Etsy shop, opal glow designs.

It feels amazing becoming myself again, and I’m so happy to have you here to come along with me.

Until next time!

Alicia
