Hi, friends! Welcome back to Stylishly Good Vibes!
I hope your weekend has been full of good vibes, good food, and good coffee! This week’s blog post is all about how to style an oversized sweatshirt. When I’m out buying clothes, I try to stick to items I know I can style multiple ways—sweatshirts included! I don’t own any pairs of sweatpants (don’t @ me, they’re just not my thing), so the sweatshirts I have in my closet tend to be more elevated in design. However, sometimes I crave that oversized, comfy look, which brings me to today’s post!
The Mushroom Sweatshirt
The mushroom sweatshirt is here for its grand debut! I shared this on Instagram, but it also deserves a permanent spot on the blog. About two months ago, I randomly had the idea for this sweatshirt, but didn’t realize how hard it would be to find the exact vintage patches I wanted. Flash forward to a couple weeks ago when an Etsy seller I had initially reached out to messaged me saying the mushroom patches were back in stock! THANK YOU, HardWearVintage!

So, once I had the patches, I knew I needed to find the perfect cream-colored sweatshirt since that was my vision. I shockingly found this one at Target for under $20 and I must say—I’m impressed! I’ve never really shopped for clothes at Target, but I kind of want this sweatshirt in every color now! Any who, I sewed and glued the mushroom patches onto the Target sweatshirt and now it’s one of my favorite pieces!
How to Elevate Your Look
Back to styling, an oversized sweatshirt like this one can be a bit of a style challenge, especially if you aren’t sure what to pair it with. Let’s start with that. If you’re trying to elevate an oversized sweatshirt, you need to go with something that is more tailored on the bottom. It counteracts the bulkiness of the sweatshirt in a really stylish way that still looks polished! For today’s look, I chose this tie-dye maxi skirt from Urban Outfitters. It’s a bit more fitted than what I typically wear, but it’s so comfortable. Plus—the colors pop with the blue mushrooms on the sweatshirt!
I tossed a denim jacket on top because it was a bit chilly out, but even without the jacket, the outfit looked complete!

Accessorizing is Key
Accessorizing is also a simple way for you to elevate an oversized sweatshirt! Since the mushrooms are close to the neckline of my sweatshirt, I opted for rings and my watch instead. If you have more of a solid or patterned sweatshirt, layer 2–3 necklaces and a bracelet for a look that is comfortable and chic!
Reflecting back on BC (before COVID), I don’t know if this look would have been something I styled! I very rarely wore sweatshirts outside of the house. But, being stuck inside for over a year has definitely been a nice reminder that comfort is key AND you can dress up the simplest, most casual pieces!

Well, that’s all I have for you today! Short and sweet! I’ll be back on the blog next week with another post!
Until next time!
