3 Ways to Take a Summer Dress Into Fall

Hi, friends! Welcome back to Stylishly Good Vibes! Although cooler weather hasn’t made its way to Cleveland yet, I’m READY for it—and so is my wardrobe!

I don’t really have summer or fall-specific clothes. Taking things out of my closet during one season only to put them back in the next is just dumb if you ask me! I transition almost every piece in my wardrobe from season to season. Well, maybe not my thickest sweaters in summer, but you get the gist.

Over the past year, I’ve been trying to adopt more sustainable practices when it comes to shopping. By transitioning more pieces in my closet, I’m saving myself from over-buying and contributing to the fast-fashion industry. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’m trying to build a capsule wardrobe, but I’m constantly trying to find ways to wear different pieces during each season we experience in Cleveland.

Today I wanted to show you 3 ways that you can take a summer dress and style it for fall. With a few key pieces in your closet, you can make this work!

Let’s get started!

Long-Sleeve Turtleneck + Dress

I mentioned this turtleneck in last week’s blog post. It’s a wardrobe staple for me and one that I think everyone needs to have. The easiest way to bring a summer dress into fall is by putting a long-sleeve shirt underneath. I personally like the turtleneck style the most for this look because I feel like it elevates it more than a simple scoop neck long-sleeve shirt. Finish styling with your favorite statement necklace and you’re ready to go!

Cropped Sweater + Dress

I live for a good cropped sweater. It’s a style that will be on repeat in my wardrobe forever. This is another turtleneck (I’m sensing a theme lol) with a bell sleeve. I knotted it in the front since the summer dress I chose is very flowy. To be honest, I wish I would have bought every color of this sweater because it’s truly my favorite. For this look, I added one of my favorite Panama hats and called it a day. Minimal accessorizing is key for this look because it already has the bell sleeve, front knot, AND turtleneck. Lots going on!

Graphic Tee + Cropped Jacket + Dress

This Smashing Pumpkins shirt is my go-to tee because it’s so soft. Any graphic tee is a great layering piece for dresses, whether it’s summer or fall. It was kismet that this tee’s color was also one of the detail colors in my dress. Although this look doesn’t totally *match*, it still works! I threw on the cropped jacket because I needed something to break up the dress a bit!

Well, that’s all I have for you today! I hope your week is amazing! If you use any of these tips to style some of your summer dresses, I would love to see!

Until next time!
