Hi, friends! If you read the title of this blog post and thought to yourself, “What the heck is she up to now,” I wouldn’t be surprised!
I’m so excited to announce another side hustle of mine (my third, LOL): Opal Glow Designs! Since the pandemic started, I’ve been spending a lot more time at home—which should come as no surprise. But more importantly, I’ve been spending a lot more time with myself. I’ve realized there are certain things that I need to have in my everyday life to make me feel like I’m filling my glass—not emptying it.
How I got started

I’ve always loved creative projects, and up until I graduated high school, I was always creating something for myself or someone else. But, you know how it goes. You go to college and the things you once loved to do kind of fall to the wayside in favor of going out and drinking.
It took me three years post-college graduation to settle back into my creative projects. All it took was one chilly afternoon spent drawing and I was instantly hooked again.
To be quite honest, before all of this started, I never thought about selling anything I made. With an artist’s mind, I’ve always been inspired to create. To create all of the things that I envisioned on my own time and my own way— not necessarily to sell those things. But, one recent project of mine totally changed my perception of that.
The project that inspired it all

A couple months ago, I bought a plain white pair of Vans and decided that I was going to put some random doodles on them. Little did I know that when I posted on social media, people would show a genuine interest in them.
How did you make them? What marker did you use? Will the pen wash off?
I’ve never had anyone rave over my art before, and the idea that people actually wanted to pay for what I was creating blew my mind.
Opal glow designs is born

After a lot of brainstorming and strategizing later, I decided it was time to open up shop to sell my creations. Opal Glow Designs is the hub for all of my creative endeavors—whether that be watercolor prints or doodles on tote bags. I’ve set up shop on Etsy, as I feel that’s the best way to grow my following right now. But, I may end up transitioning it to this site. We’ll see!
I’m so excited to have another space where I can be my best creative self—now and in the future. So, if you’re interested, you can check out my Etsy shop here!
