Hello, friends, and welcome back to Stylishly Good Vibes! I can’t believe it’s already Thanksgiving week. Where in the world did the time go! For this week’s post, I didn’t want to bombard you with info about the greatest sales for Black Friday or the things I’m planning to buy — I’m going to do the complete opposite. Truth be told, I won’t be buying anything for Black Friday. I won’t even be leaving my house, and that hasn’t happened in the past five years.
As some of you may know, I recently started a new job, and by recently, I mean last week! So, going from a management position at a retail store to an office job is a big change. One that I definitely felt I needed to make — especially now. I’ve worked every Black Friday for the past five years, and honestly, it has kind of made me a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to the holidays. I would hate to say that working in retail has ruined Thanksgiving and Christmas for me, but it kind of has.
So, why won’t I be shopping the Black Friday sales? Because I have more important things to do, that’s my honest answer. I would much rather bake Christmas cookies with my mom or hangout with my Grandma than stand in line at a store filled with angry people. But, you do you, and if you want to find the best Black Friday deals, go for it. I wish you all the best luck!
Also, if you decide to go Black Friday shopping — which is totally your choice might I add — please be nice to the sales associates. I’ve been in their shoes before, so I know how it can feel on Black Friday. All I can ask is that you treat them with lots of respect. Okay? Okay! Alright, rant over!
So, what’s the purpose of this blog post besides the fact that I won’t be shopping Black Friday? Today is all about recycling your wardrobe from year to year! I know that some people may think I have a boatload of clothes, and I’m not saying I don’t, but I’ve definitely minimized my purchases over the past couple of years.
Each season, I try to give myself an allotment of items that I may need to purchase if I decide to give away a similar item. That’s the thing — it’s really rare for me to just go out and buy something if I haven’t cleaned out my closet in some capacity. I know that I’m a fashion “blogger” and I’ll probably be banned for saying this, but how many clothes do you really need?!
My day-off wardrobe in late fall is usually this exact outfit, plus a pair of Vans slip-ons — although I may swap in another coat from my collection. But for the most part, this is how it’s going to be.
This outfit represents me. It’s my color palette. It has lots of fun textures and patterns. It’s just me. So, when you feel like shopping all of the crazy sales this coming weekend, just remember this:
You probably already have something better in your closet.
Well, that’s all I have for ya today. A really random post filled with my thoughts of the week! I hope you and your loved ones have a great Thanksgiving! Enjoy lots of pie and turkey!
Until next time,
