Happy Friday, friends! I’m back on the blog to share another post in my “What To Wear With” series. If you’re new to the blog, this series is dedicated to sharing my favorite item(s) to pair with a particular piece of clothing. This week, I chose a vertical-striped blouse to be my focus.
Now that I’m thinking about it, I’ve always steered clear of horizontal stripes. I have a long torso, and I don’t like to make it seem shorter by wearing horizontal stripes, ya know? Finding this vertical-striped blouse was like hitting the jackpot. As much as I love it, I really only wear it during the summertime. But, it’s the perfect blouse to throw on with my favorite summer skirts and dresses.

Color Palette + Pattern Play
Any who, my typical color palette tends to lean more toward pinks and purples. Those are just my colors, ya know?! Everyone has a wardrobe color palette. Open your closet and pick out the three colors you see most frequently. That’s your palette!
When I pulled this blouse out of my closet, I immediately knew I would pair it with this skirt because both are in my color palette. Plus, the floral print and striped pattern combo is one of my favorites. It’s one of the more common pattern plays in fashion. Regardless of how often I’ve seen it online or in magazines, I don’t really see it getting played with much in my world.

Vertical Stripes + Floral Prints
My overarching hope with this series is to give you ideas and inspiration about how you, too, could wear that piece in your closet that’s more complicated to style. This doesn’t mean I want you to follow every single trend — I just want you to give them a try and see how you like them!
Although the vertical stripes and floral print don’t match perfectly, it still works. I’ve found that’s pretty much how every pattern play I style goes. When it’s too matchy-matchy, I won’t do it. That’s how I know!
Of course you could wear this vertical-striped blouse with jeans, but that’s boring! You’ve got to jazz it up! Even if it looks crazy when you initially look in the mirror, keep it on. Come back in five minutes to see how you feel about the outfit you put together. You can’t rely on your initial judgment of something because like many things, you could be very, very wrong!

Well, that’s all I have for ya today! I feel like this blog post relies more on the photos of how I styled the pieces than me blabbing about random things, so see ya! LOL!
Stay tuned for next week when I’ll be on the blog with new posts for you. 🙂
Until next time,
Alicia
