Welcome back to the blog, friends! Today’s post is all about something I’m really passionate about: CBD. I know this topic is still a little bit of a taboo, but I’m here to share with you the ways that I use CBD in my lifestyle.
Now, I’m not a doctor, nor am I an expert on CBD. I just know what works for me. Your experience will be different than mine, and I’m not suggesting that you start using CBD simply because I do.
I do suggest consulting with someone who has experience or knowledge about CBD before you use it. Do your research before deciding if CBD is something that you want to integrate into your life.
Let’s get started!
As I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, I suffer from chronic migraines with aura. It’s the worst. Anyone who gets migraines understands how debilitating it can be when you get one. It literally ruins your entire day, if not, more than one day. Prior to finding CBD, I was getting really fed up with constantly worrying that I was going to get a migraine.
Going Gluten Free
So, the first step I took toward holistically curing my migraines was to omit gluten from my diet. For more on the reasoning for that decision, check out this blog post! Despite my change in diet, going gluten free wasn’t enough for me to ward off my migraines long term, however they had gotten much better with that dietary change. Eating gluten free was just one block in the tower I was “building” to get my health back in check.

Discovering CBD
I continued to maintain a gluten-free diet, but started looking for something that would act as an additional preventative measure. That’s how I came across CBD. I had read quite a bit about the ways that CBD can help to minimize the effects of inflammation and pain in the body. Migraines are caused by inflammation in the brain, so I figured I had nothing to lose by trying it.
With so many brands and variations of CBD products on the market, I’m sure you’re wondering how I narrowed down my search. Well, there’s a simple answer for that. Research, and a lot of it. Being as CBD is on the rise, doing your research about different brands is crucial. You’ve got to be aware of the quality of products that you’re using since CBD is not regulated by the FDA.
My Favorite CBD Products
Through my research, I came across two different companies, both of which I have used and loved their products. The first one is Alpen Organics out of California. All products are natural, vegan, cruelty free, organic and sustainably sourced, meaning I don’t have to worry while taking it. I used to take their 600 mg. Mind Tincture.
A couple months ago, I stumbled across another CBD company based in Cleveland, so I switched from Alpen Organics to Clean Remedies. Got to support local, my friends! When I found their company, I decided on using a tincture as well, but opted for a lower dose than I previously used. I now use their 350 mg. Full Spectrum Hemp Oil and love it.
Also, if you’re confused on what I mean by “tincture,” it’s a dropper that you fill up and squirt under your tongue. There’s no prescribed method for how much you should use — it’s really just trial and error until you find the amount that works for you! I take about 2.5 droppers each morning.
So, yes, CBD might be trending nowadays and you might feel inclined to try it for yourself, but just make sure to do your research beforehand! I hope this blog post helped you gain a little insight about what CBD is and how I use it.
Until next time!
