Top Picks | January Skincare

Happy Sunday, friends! It’s the beginning of another week — yay! I’m always confused about what day it is because my work schedule is different than the majority of people I know.

I’m currently enjoying a little staycation here in Cleveland, which was definitely needed. I’m not the best about giving myself a break, so this vacation is the perfect excuse for me to chill out.

Anyways, let’s get to the point of today’s blog post: skincare necessities for winter! I’ve always been crazy about skincare, but when I moved back to Cleveland from Myrtle Beach, I knew I needed to have a solid skincare routine goin’ so that my skin would be ready once winter rolled in.

In my past experiences with Ohio winters, my skin has been dry, cracked and flaky — and no matter what I would do to try and mediate that, nothing worked. Well, I think I’ve got the line-up of products that have taken my skin to the hydration station this winter.

EYES

Clinique All About Eyes™

The skincare rep at Ulta recommended this product to me and I couldn’t be happier that I decided to buy it. I told the rep I was concerned with premature aging and keeping my eyes moisturized in the winter. She recommended this because of the high-level of moisture it provides.

I use this eye cream in the morning and night. A little bit definitely goes a long way. I would say that it has a creamy, almost watery-gel-like consistency to it once you pat it onto the under-eyes. Don’t rub — pat this product in! I think it has helped with my dark circles and moisturizing the little line I have under both my eyes.

CLEANSE

Saturday Skin Rise + Shine Cleanser

What I love about this cleanser is that it doesn’t strip my skin of any moisture — leaving me with a glowing complexion. This formula is free of any gross ingredients, like artificial colors or fragrances, parabens and sulfates.

I switched to this cleanser for the sheer fact that I was tired of my skin feeling super tight after washing my face. This cleanser goes such a long way, too, and it turns to foam, which makes it easy to use with a facial scrubber. Plus — I LOVE their packaging, which is always a win in my book.

TONE

Be The Skin Botanical Nutrition Power Toner

I’ve shared this toner on the blog before, but I’m sharing it again because it’s amazing and it’s the only one I’ve used consistently for the past two years. This is a Korean brand that I routinely purchase from Peach & Lily. It was recommended to me in a personal skin consultation that I did.

It contains royal jelly, which is amazing for moisturizing. It has all-natural ingredients to keep your skin soft and supple, which in turn, will help firm the skin. I use this toner morning and night, every single day. I’ve noticed a difference in my overall skin quality — plus I don’t get flaky skin on my face anymore, which I can credit this toner for.

TREAT

Organic Rosehip Oil

I recently read about the benefits of using rosehip oil, so I felt the need to jump on the bandwagon and incorporate it into my skincare routine. Rosehip oil is incredibly nourishing, which makes it great for the winter. When your skin is moisturized using a product like this, it can prevent premature aging.

I use this oil at night, near the end of my skincare routine. I’ve only been using it for about a month, but I’ve already noticed a difference in how moisturized my skin looks and feels when I wake up in the morning. If you incorporate anything into your skincare routine this winter, have it be this oil!

Clinique Repairwear Laser™ Focus Smooths, Restores, Corrects

If you’re looking for super smooth skin, this product is a MUST! Literally, the first morning after I used it, I woke up, touched my face and was like, “Holy s**t!” My skin was baby soft. Now, this is an anti-aging serum, which realistically I don’t need to be using, but I wanted to try it for smoothing my skin and helping acne scars.

Sometimes the anti-aging products that we see our parents using are the best products for people in their 20’s to use when it comes to treating things like acne scars. I’ve tried a lot of different products for my scars, and I’m truly impressed with how well this one has worked thus far.

MIST

OY-L Hydrating Facial Mist

Facial misting is all the rage, or at least it should be. The thing about misting is that you need to be really careful about the formula you decide to use. There are a lot of products out there that contain artificial fragrances, dyes and unnatural ingredients, which are all big NO’s on my skincare list.

OY-L’s Hydrating Facial Mist is my go-to for a variety of reasons. One, it helps to set my makeup in the morning. Two, it gives me a nice, natural glow when I spray it on mid-day. And three, it has helped to keep my skin hydrated. This mist contains all-natural ingredients, like aloe vera juice and prickly pear oil, which add the ideal calming effect for a mist.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for ya today! My skincare necessities for winter. If you’re looking for more product recommendations, check out my Top Picks posts here.

Have a fabulous and fun rest of the weekend, friends!

Until next time,
