Okay, I’ll be the first to say it. I have a problem … I’m obsessed with buying coats — and that’s not just me saying that to be dramatic. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I grew up in Cleveland, which basically has two seasons: summer and winter. Whatever the reason, I’ve fallen into the trap of buying yet another coat for my collection. But hey, we’ve all got weird shopping habits and items we find ourselves buying the most of, so why not just embrace them and share it with the world!
Let me give you a quick little back story on this coat. Like I said, I have a lot of coats and I really didn’t have the thought in my mind that I needed another one — until I saw this pink one at Nordstrom Rack. (Shop this coat here.) When I’m shopping, if there’s a sale, you know I’m buying something whether I need it or not. Shopaholic? Yeah, maybe, but I do always try to get the items I buy to last for years by taking proper care of them.
Any who, I saw this coat on a rack and knew it was meant to be mine. Pink is one of my favorite colors as you guys have probably figured out. I love the teddy/sherpa texture, too. Plus — I forgot to mention that it was under $40! This probably sounds really dumb, but whenever I’m debating on whether or not to buy something, I say to myself, “Will I regret not owning this item in three years.” I know, crazy, right. But seriously, this is how I justify things. I check for quality, durability and functionality and make my decision based on that.
Like I said, my favorite thing about this coat is the color. I love a good neutral, and for me this light mauve color falls into the neutral category in my wardrobe. That’s not to say I don’t love a good camel-colored coat, but you’re more likely to see me in this color palette than that! I’m not big on wearing hoods, and that’s why I love that this coat is just collared. Easy to pair with dresses, skirts and mom jeans from Topshop, this coat has me so pumped to share more of my outfit creations on Instagram.
Besides my sheer excitement for this coat, I wanted to share a little more in this blog post. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking over the past month, which has led to my realization about the future of this platform. I can’t imagine my life not writing on this blog and creating content for you guys. It’s a part of my routine and it’s something that I L-O-V-E.
When I moved back to Cleveland this past fall, I had an idea in my head that I was going to have so much more time to dedicate to the blog. But, sometimes things don’t quite work out the way I expected. I took on way too much responsibility, working two basically-full-time jobs at once. The reason why I’ve been a little MIA is because I’ve been all-consumed in my work outside of this blog.
Any who, I like to keep you all updated with what has been going on in my life, and that’s it. But! Things will be changing soon, my friends, because 2019 is all about making decisions that benefit me and bring joy. So, cheers to new beginnings and saying no to glorifying busyness.
I’ll be maintaining a schedule of one post a week for the next two months, and then I’ll be back on here with even more content for you. Thank you all for staying tuned on this journey with me. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m so excited to see where the new year takes me.
Until next time,
Alicia <3
Love it!
