Hello and happy Monday! I can’t believe this week is Thanksgiving — where did the time go! Now that I’m thinking about it, today’s blog post really is perfect for this week’s festivities. With all of the party planning, cooking and celebrating of Thanksgiving, I know that I’ll need a chill day to recover this weekend, which brings me to today’s blog post topic: elevated loungewear.
Loungewear is something I’ve never shared on the blog before. Truth be told, the sweatpants I’m wearing in this post are the first and only pair I’ve ever bought for myself. Whether you’ve known me for years, or you’re a new reader to the blog, it may come as a surprise that I’ve never worn sweatpants out in public. They’ve just never been a part of my wardrobe!
Needless to say, I guess my wardrobe has always been less chill, more elevated. Anyways, I decided it was about time I got a nice pair of sweatpants to lounge around in. Getting home from my full-time job, to then work my part-time job remotely while still wearing jeans was getting real old, real fast. Let me tell you: these sweatpants have been a total game-changer for me!
The reason why I bought these ones was because I absolutely loved the color and the waffle-detailing down the side. I chose the pink cowl neck sweater to pair alongside these pants because I loved the monochromatic look it created.
Although I’ve never worn loungewear prior to buying these two pieces, I think it’s crucial to my style evolution that I try new things. This idea could apply to many facets of our lives, now that I think about it. If we stick to the same shit everyday, we’re never going to have those a-ha moments that make each day so fulfilling!
Back on track with the blog post, I wear these sweatpants and sweatshirt as my pajamas, although I have worn them out, too. Just keepin’ it real! I’m definitely not an expert on styling loungewear, but if you’re looking for a more polished and elevated look, it may be wise to size down.
I know for these sweatpants and sweatshirt in particular, I bought them a size down from what I normally wear. I probably could have even bought two sizes smaller because they’ve already stretched out a little bit.
When buying sweatpants, it’s also super important to check the fiber content. These ones are a rayon blend, and you cannot dry rayon in the dryer … so, shrinking them really isn’t an option if they end up being too big.
Now, of course, I could have just shared this loungewear outfit as-is and not elevated it. But, because loungewear is totally out of my comfort zone, I needed to add some things that made me feel like me.
This faux fur coat is one of my favorites in my wardrobe. I’ve had it for three years now and I’ve gotta say, dry cleaning is ~magic~ when it comes to faux fur. If you want your faux fur to last longer, dry clean after every season of wear. Don’t try and wash it yourself!
My Panama hat is another wardrobe staple, as you can probably tell from many of my blog posts. I think it pulls the outfit together, but, of course you could omit the faux fur coat and Panama hat for less flashy accessories, or none at all.
This elevated loungewear outfit isn’t complete without a cool pair of sneakers from none other than my favorite shoe store ever, Clarks! I got these as part of their outlet store’s – Buy 1, Get 1 for $20. They’re comfortable and super easy to clean. After taking these pictures, I actually tossed them in the washer with detergent and they came out good as new!
Also, just in case you’re wondering, I don’t wear these sneakers for physical activities! I think it’s important to distinguish between when you wear your actual athletic sneakers and the ones that you only wear for chill days.
Well, that’s all I’ve got for ya today! I’ve made a list below of some of my favorite stores to shop for loungewear. If you’re in the market for some new sweats this winter, or you just want to treat yourself to something cute, check out the stores below!
