My Late Summer Uniform

Hello, lovely friends of the digital world! Last week was the first full week that I took off from blogging in almost a year and a half. I was busy trying to get my life together and then I went on a little mini vacay to Charleston over the weekend, so the time got away from me! As relaxing as it was to unplug for a bit, I missed writing on here for all of you! So I’m back in action with three new blog posts for you this week!

As many of you head back to school this week, I decided it was fitting for me to write about my late summer uniform as of late! Although it’s still 90 degrees here in South Carolina, I refuse to believe it or let it dictate my style choices. I’m wearing pants, jean jackets and light sweaters because I like to think that I’m still living in Ohio during the fall months. A girl can dream!

My late summer uniform has been taken over by light chino pants, like these from Anthropologie. They’re from 2011, so unfortunately you won’t be able to find them anywhere! However, if you’re looking to emulate this style of pant, Anthropologie and Gap are my two favorite places to buy them! Plusfor all of my friends who need business casual clothes, these pants are perfect for the office!

Floral prints can be worn year-round, and that’s exactly why I have kept these pants for so long! In the summer and fall months, I tend to wear these with Birkenstocks, flatform sandals, or sneakers, whereas in the winter, I choose a short and narrow bootie since they’re more of a flared fit.

I don’t know about you, but as much as I love jeans, I hate wearing them in the summer — especially skinny jeans. That’s why I opt for pants in this style because they don’t stick to my legs when I sweat! TMI, but I’m sure we can all relate!

During the late summer months, I like to try and follow a three-layer technique of styling. I decided on this turtleneck tank as my base layer because it provides a cool texture alongside the floral pants. Plus, I can easily remove my jean jacket and show off the tank top on its own.

This jean jacket is one of my all-time favorite items in my wardrobe. It’s more of a boyfriend fit, and the ruffle along the back gives it a little extra flare, which I love! This jacket was my go-to last fall, and I’m sure that will remain the same! In South Carolina, there’s really only two seasons: summer and winter. So, if you’re like me and love fall weather, you power through the heat and humidity to wear your favorite fall pieces in 80 degree weather!

Well, that’s all I have for ya today, friends! I’ll be back on the blog on Wednesday with another Hometown Spotlight post, so stay tuned!

Until next time!
