In My Closet | Mini Skirts

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you’re having a great day so far! I’m back on the blog today to share two of my favorite mini skirts that I’ve been rocking on my days off from work! Honestly, I forgot that I even had these skirts because they were buried deep within my dresser. Clearly I need to work on my organizational skills!

Any who, I’m really picky about my skirts. If you’ve been to the blog before, you know I’m usually wearing a maxi or midi skirt. But, that doesn’t mean that I don’t love a good mini skirt every now and again. These two skirts are ones that I’ve had in my closet for over three years now (I’m sorry!!). But, not to worry! I have included some similar options for you all to shop below! 🙂

Lilac Skater Skirt

Purple is one of my favorite colors, mostly because I wear it as my neutral in many of the outfits I put together. I think it’s a super versatile color that coordinates well with just about any other color of the rainbow. I picked this skirt up at Urban Outfitters way back when, and even did another blog post while wearing it when I was in college!

Urban Outfitters is definitely my go-to if I’m ever looking for solid basic pieces, like skater skirts. I reserve my skater skirts for summer because they have more of an edgy appeal that doesn’t translate well with my style as we move into fall and winter. My style has evolved over the past four years, and although I don’t wear skater skirts as often as I used to, I still think that having one solid option in your wardrobe is a necessity!

I love pairing skater skirts with graphic tees, but this pink striped blouse from Anthropologie blends well with the feminine look I was going for! The purple and pink combination is very reminiscent of Easter eggs, but I like it!

Embroidered Overlay Skirt

Okay, this is by far one of my favorite skirts in my wardrobe, and would you believe me if I told you it was from Forever 21!? I wore this skirt on my first day of school during senior year … of high school. I swear I’m not a hoarder — the skirt still fits!

The reason why I bought this skirt in the first place was because it was a perfect match for a super cool cardigan that I had from Anthropologie. I’ll have to share it on the blog one of these days! Anyways, it’s such a random color, I get that, but you would be surprised at how many tops and sweaters I’ve found to coordinate with it!

In terms of shape and style, this skirt fits more like a pencil skirt, which I’m usually not a fan of. I think the embroidered overlay gives this piece an entirely different and unique element that is ultimately the reason why I’ve kept it all these years. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — if you take care of your clothes, no matter where you buy them from, they can last for years!

On a relevant side note, I think one of the biggest misconceptions about fashion bloggers is that they buy clothes all the time. I mean, I’m sure that may be the case for some, but for me, I’m all about keepin’ it real. No, I’m not buying new clothes left and right because let’s be real — I’m a recent college grad and I don’t have the means to be doing allllll of that! Second, I think that you can all learn so much more about personal style when you see how something is styled on someone else, versus just going out and buying the exact same thing.

Just some food for thought! I want you all to be confident in your own personal style because I already know it’s amazing! You can find inspiration all around you, from your favorite Instagram bloggers, to fashion magazines and Pinterest. Personally, I gather inspiration the most from Pinterest. I’m much more of a visual learner, so when I see a certain trend or a combination of unique patterns and pieces, I think about how I could make that work.

If you’re looking to see what I’ve been posting recently on Pinterest, give me a follow!

Well, I hope you all have a super fun week full of good vibes and positivity! I’ll be back on the blog on Friday with another new post for ya!

Until next time!
