Happy Monday, friends! As you can tell by the title of this blog post, I’ve been feelin’ the heat down here in South Carolina. I’m not joking when I say that the temperature is 94 degrees at 8 a.m. on most days. NINETY-FOUR DEGREES! I feel myself melting. Okay, I’m being dramatic, but still, it’s hotter than HOT.
You probably all know by now that I hate dressing for summer. I don’t like shorts and I’m not a huge fan of tank tops. The struggle of summer style is real! Anyways, I was doing some shopping on Saturday for more summer pieces.
Welp, it really wasn’t a success, other than buying this super magical magenta maxi skirt!
I can’t begin to tell you how long I’ve been looking for a new maxi skirt. I have a red chiffon one that I bought at Anthropologie years ago, and it has definitely had its time to shine. I knew that this year was the year I needed to find another one so that I could toss my red one.
I was immediately intrigued by the bright pink color of this skirt, only to notice that when you look at it close up, there is a faint paisley design all over it. How cool?! I don’t know about you guys, but I find maxi skirts so freeing and comfortable, so much so that I would literally wear one every single day!
Maxi skirts are perfect for summer days when the temperature is in excess of 80 degrees. What I love about this one is that no matter how much you sweat (lol just keepin’ it real), it really doesn’t cling to you in an uncomfortable way. Trust me, I would know!
After buying this skirt, I knew I needed it to be in one of this week’s blog posts. So, I went on an adventure to find a new photo shoot location. Let me tell you — there really aren’t any cool places to take pictures where I live. It’s nothing like how it was when I lived in Ohio! But hey, I’ve gotta make the most of my situation, so I was determined to find a spot that had the lighting I was looking for.
I drove to one spot I’d been curious about, only to realize that it was totally not what I was expecting it to be. But then I decided to drive somewhere else that I knew had a lot of greenery and I ended up here! See, a little persistence and a tripod for your camera can get ya far in this blogging world!
Back to this skirt — once I finished taking pictures, the heat finally hit me and I knew I needed a large iced water and air conditioning. As hot and humid as it was, I remained pretty cool in this skirt, which is all I can ask for in this crazy weather!
In regard to maxi skirts, I definitely think they are easier to style in the summer because your shoe choice is pretty limitless. When it comes to fall, it tends to get a little complicated, but that’s not a good reason to stop wearing your favorite maxi skirts! For future reference, you can totally rock your summer maxi skirts in the fall! Swap out your flatform sandals with a pair of chestnut suede booties or oxfords and you’re set.
Needless to say, I will now be living in this magenta skirt as the summer weather continues to heat up. If you guys know of any cool places that I can pick up another maxi skirt (I’m obsessed!), please let me know in the comments below! Also, what is your favorite way to stay cool with your style during the summer?!
I’ll see you all again on Wednesday with another new blog post! Keep spreading positivity and good vibes!
Until next time,
Alicia <3
