Hello there, friends! I just realized I should probably be writing these Monthly Intentions posts at the beginning of the month. Oh well! Here they are for ya: My Monthly Intentions for June. I feel like I say this with every round of Intentions that I publish, but I really think that this month’s are dedicated to spending more time de-stressing and doing things that bring me joy.
With all of the busy days and endless work that we can all feel piling up now and again, it’s important to dedicate time to doing things we love. At the beginning of this month, I made a promise to myself to unplug from work and stress by actively doing things that I genuinely enjoy. Whether it be reading a new book, drawing a cool picture or sewing a decorative hoop, this month is the beginning of more dedicated me-time!
So, let’s begin this quick little blog post, where I hope you can gain inspiration for your own Monthly Intentions!
Make an Effort to Read Something Enjoyable Each Day
I’ve always been an avid reader, and I absolutely love the public library. I’m a huge advocate for having a library card! Anyways, because I’m such a reader, I tend to split my reading into two categories: books that I read for enjoyment and books that I’ve been waiting to read.
Let me explain.
I go through books so fast. Like, when I start a book, I can usually finish it within 3-4 hours. I’ve always been a fast reader. Well, because I go through books so quick, I tend to read on my tablet most of the time. I download electronic versions of books from the public library and read them that way. As much as I would love to have a huge library filled with my favorite books, I legit don’t have the space for that!
In regard to books I’ve been waiting to read, these are ones that I usually buy off of Amazon. I still love having a physical book in my hands so I don’t have to read off my device all the time. I recently decided to buy these two because they’ve been on my list for three months now, and I hadn’t gotten around to ordering them until a few weeks ago.
The Beauty of Dirty Skin is AMAZING! It’s by Dr. Whitney Bowe and she’s done tons of research on the impact of gut health on your skin. Seriously, if you have any skin problems like acne, psoriasis or eczema, give this book a read. It’s so informative and really opens your mind to the overarching impact that diet has on your health.
The Little Book of Skin Care by Charlotte Cho is another that I’m obsessed with! I just started this one over the weekend, and I love it so far! I’ve always been really fascinated with Korean skincare, and this book dives right into all of the unique aspects of it. I heard about this book on The Skinny Confidential’s podcast, which is also something you should totally check out!
Spend Time Crafting
You all know how much I love crafting and DIY projects! I’ve always enjoyed doing them because they’re a great way to de-stress after a long day. One of my favorite projects that I’ve done recently was creating two embroidery hoops by hand. Basically I drew my design onto a piece of white cotton fabric, picked my color scheme and just started sewing! I had watched a YouTube video about different stitches and how to do them, so I was well-informed before I started!
Two of my favorite places to find inspiration for projects are Pinterest or Instagram. Sometimes I’ll just be scrolling through pictures and see something I like and decide that I can make it on my own. That’s usually how my projects begin! You are capable of more creativity than you probably even know, so just give it a try this month to see if it’s something that brings you joy!
Learn More About My Health

This goes back to what I’d mentioned about the book “The Beauty of Dirty Skin.” I’m telling you, this book really made me think twice about what I’ve been feeding my body. It’s crazy to think that after years of dealing with skin problems, the culprit was most likely my diet. It’s mind-boggling!
Anyways, I’ve decided that this month, I’m going to be more aware about what I put into my body. I’m not one of those go-for-it-cold-turkey kinds of people. I like to be well-informed about decisions regarding my health before I start anything. I love learning about how the human body works, so I intend on cooking with more fresh ingredients and swapping out any processed snacks with healthier ones.
Well, that’s all for today, friends! I hope that your week has been going great so far! I’ll be back on the blog on Friday with another new blog post for ya!
Until next time!
