Elevated Styling + Denim Skirts

Hi, friends and Happy Monday! I hope that everyone’s weekend was full of love, joy and good vibes! I don’t know about you guys, but I woke up bright and early on Saturday so that I could catch every moment of the royal wedding. Let me just say that it was even more magical than I’d anticipated! I’m so excited to see everything that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accomplish for the world in the coming years!

In other news, the weather has been absolutely dreadful, so you’ll probably see a few raindrops making their mark on my clothes throughout this blog post. The life of a blogger: taking pictures in the rain because you have no other time to take them! But, I’m committed to making sure that you guys have fresh content every week, so rain or shine, I’m going to bring it!

With summer almost here, I decided to go through my wardrobe to find more of my warm-weather items that I’ve buried away. I happened to find this two-toned denim skirt from Levi’s that I bought last summer and immediately knew that I had to share it on the blog today! This skirt was also included in another blog post about My Style Evolution, if you’re looking for another way to style it!

Today, I chose to pair my denim skirt with one of my favorite kimonos and a sparkly 3/4-length sleeve blouse. Simple, yet chic and lightweight for those humid summer days.

When I bought this skirt, I was initially on the fence about it because of my days wearing denim skorts in middle school. If we all reflect back to the early 2000s, our Limited Too denim skorts were a LOOK. One that wasn’t always on point! But, I loved the two-toned detail of this Levi’s skirt, so I convinced myself that I could make it work!

When it comes to styling a denim skirt, I like to refer to the idea of elevated styling. This concept focuses on the art of adding another accessory or clothing piece to an outfit that you’re already wearing to elevate the look. It’s something that we have engrained in our brains at my part-time retail job, but I also think it’s something that everyone can apply to their summer outfits!

For me, it’s never about taking off an item before I leave the house — it’s about adding one to make my look stand out. By adding this kimono and hat, I elevated my look from being simply a blouse and denim skirt. I definitely think that a quality denim skirt is something that everyone can benefit from having in their closet. Although it may not be a piece that you wear frequently, you’ll always have it for those days that you’re feeling like mixing things up!

Well, that’s all I’ve got for ya on this lovely Monday! I’ll be back on the blog on Wednesday with another post for you all. *Hint Hint* I’ll be sharing the makeup that I use in my every-day routine!

Cheers to the start of another week, friends!

Until next time,

Alicia
