5 Must-Haves for Spring

Hello, friends! Happy Monday!

I spent the weekend enjoying the sunshine and catching up on some projects that I’ve been putting on the back burner! Needless to say, I’m feeling pretty reenergized this week!

On the blog today, I’m focusing on 5 must-have items for the ultimate spring wardrobe. When it comes to the seasons changing, I know how it feels when you have to take all of your winter items out of your closet, and make room for the new spring clothes you just splurged on. I grew up in Cleveland, where four seasons means four different clothing collections in my closet!

Obviously, there are a lot of items from my winter wardrobe that can definitely transition into spring, but I like to make sure I’m prepared for anything by having a few new items. I don’t know about you guys, but for me, I never shop with a purpose. That sounds weird LOL, but whenever I’m out shopping, I’m never looking for anything in particular — I’m just looking for whatever catches my eye.

No matter how you choose to shop this spring, make sure to buy items that reflect your style! Don’t just buy things because they’re trendy for the moment. As we pass the torch onto spring, so to speak, today is the perfect time to step back and think — What do you really need in your closet this spring?

Here are the items that are my necessities for springtime!

1. Denim Jacket

No matter the style of denim jacket you choose, it’s going to be a staple in your wardrobe until the humidity of summer becomes too much to bear. Having a lightweight jacket to throw on before you leave the house is key for spring, if you ask me! I have two different denim jackets, both of which serve a totally different ‘style’ purpose.

This denim jacket is one that I recently bought from Urban Outfitters. I’m obsessed with it! BDG makes their denim jackets with the softest material, which means they’re comfortable enough to sleep in.  The boyfriend-style of this jacket is definitely reserved for certain outfits, but so far I haven’t had any trouble working it into my wardrobe.

The reason why I bought this particular jacket was because it has a giant ruffle along the back of it. How cool! Finding a denim jacket that fits your style and has some sort of unique element to it would be the perfect addition to any spring wardrobe.

2. Grey Purse

I’ll be the first to admit it — I’m a bag hoarder. I have more bags than I care to count, but I plan to use this particular one for a very, very, very long time. It’s the perfect purse for traveling, which is why I use it so much, and the muted grey leather is ideal for spring and summer.

I’m usually not a huge fan of grey, and I really don’t own too much of it in my wardrobe, but still — I think it’s important to have a few grey accessories for when the weather warms up. I love the structured design of this bag because it reminds me of the 1950s! It also has a detachable crossbody strap, which means you can make it work with any outfit.

3. Block Heel Sandals

I love wooden block heels, so much that I would wear them every single day. I don’t know about you guys, but I hate most heels! They are so uncomfortable, and I’m clumsy, so it’s just a horrible combination to begin with. Block heels are always my go-to when I need a shoe that gives me a little height.

The wooden block heel screams summer to me, and the fact that I’m able to break them out of my closet already makes me so happy! I know that Daylight Savings Time is next weekend, but I seriously cannot believe that it’s already March and we’re about to spring forward. Craziness! Anyways, these sandals are a must-have for me because they can be dressed up or down easily and they’re comfortable. Need I say more? Done, done and done!

4. Panama Hat

Believe it or not, I never used to be a hat person. I have a large cranium LOL, but seriously though — I have a pretty big head, so I used to steer clear of hats. It wasn’t until a coworker of mine encouraged me to try this one on that I finally decided to take the plunge and wear one. I’m officially a converted hat-lover!

It’s all about finding the style of hat that best suits your face shape. I’m not a hat expert, but if you’re looking for one for spring, go into an Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie and just try some on to see what styles you like. Buying hats online is a big gamble, but if you get a sense of how certain styles fit ahead of time, you’ll be golden! You know what they say — you never know until you try!

5. Pastel Patterned Pants

If I could wear pastel print culottes everyday for the rest of forever, I would! I get tons of questions about these pants whenever I wear them, and I’m always sad when I can’t share a link because I can’t find them anywhere! I purchased them when I was in Rome at a store called Sisley. I would describe it as being a mix between H&M and Topshop, meaning it’s my absolute favorite European store!

What initially attracted me to these pants was how similar they were to pajamas. Usually I’m not one for the whole pajamas-in-public look, but come on! I couldn’t leave without buying these! They’re also high waisted, which means serious comfort!

Whether you choose to look for a similar pair of culottes, or you’re more into a straight or skinny cut of patterned pants, this is a trend that you can pair with anything you currently have in your closet. I can coordinate these pants with just about any color top, and that is what I love about them! They’re so simple to wear — almost as if they were pajamas!
