Pleated Dress + Grey Denim

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope that you’re all having a great day so far! I wanted to jump on the blog today to talk about one of my all-time favorite pieces in my closet: a pleated dress from MANGO.

Pleats have definitely come and gone as ‘hot trends‘ in the fashion industry, but despite the designation of being trendy or not, I’ve always loved them. They are an ode to the eighties — just imagine all of the pleated prom dresses, like the ones in “Napoleon Dynamite” — pleats have turned into one of my fashion staples.

I’ve come to realize that styling-wise, pleats can either be really great, or absolutely horrible. When it comes to styling, I love gathering inspiration from past decades. However, I think that it’s important to make trend pieces, like pleats, work for this decade or you’ll wind up looking like a real life Goonie. (AKA my favorite movie of all time!)

Anyways, this dress was one of the only clothing pieces that I bought for myself when I was in Paris. I know, shocking that I didn’t buy anything else LOL! But really, I was more interested in spending money on experiences versus clothes.

If you’re tall like me and seriously struggle with finding dresses that are long enough, you can benefit from what I’m about to say! Gone are the days of having to give away dresses that are too short. Wearing a dress as a long tunic over jeans is one of the best alternatives to tossing it from your closet! It might seem like a weird thing to do, but I promise that if you style it right, it will look AMAZING!

When I realized that this dress was getting a littttttle bit too short to wear out, I decided to do the next best thing and throw on this pair of Kut from the Kloth jeans. I love that they have more of a moto-inspired look to them, which pairs well with the pleated dress.

I topped this look off with one of my Panama hats from Anthropologie! Living in the South has definitely had an impact on my hair, meaning that the level of frizz I experience on a daily basis has increased by 100%. As you can see from the photos, my hair is a little wild today, but hey — wearing a hat makes everything better!

My little plants made an appearance in today’s blog post because it is finally warm enough for me to put them back outside! Although weather in the South is pretty warm most of the time, I’m still trying to figure out the best places for my plants to flourish.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep them outside in the summer, but they seem to be livin’ well outside now! YAY FOR PLANTS! I’m literally THAT person who gets excited to go plant shopping! So, if you have any recommendations for plants I should get, comment below!
