Top 5 | My Trip to Paris

Hello, hello my lovely readers! I hope that everyone is having a splendid spring so far! If you read my last post, you’ll know that I had the opportunity to go to Paris a little over two months ago. Needless to say, this was one of the most amazing experiences of my life thus far. I am already counting down the days until I can go back! It truly is a magical place, and anyone who has been there knows exactly what I mean.

If you’re planning a trip to Paris, or dreaming of your first trip to the City of Lights, I compiled a list of my favorite experiences that I had while in the city. One of the most important things about traveling is to go into your trip with an idea of where exactly you want to visit. Whether that be a random coffee shop that your favorite blogger posted a picture of, or somewhere that you’ve seen in a movie — make sure to put it on your list of places to visit!

Anyways, here is the rundown of my Top 5 favorite experiences from my trip to Paris! If you have any questions about traveling or places that I went on my trip, please comment below!

1.) Tour of Beau Souci showroom in the 1st arrondissement

If you’re as much of a haute couture and ready-to-wear fashion lover as I am, you’ll understand why this was one of my favorite experiences. Beau Souci is a newer label that has offices in both Paris and L.A. The feel of the collection that we had the chance to see was very edgy, with pops of color against predominantly black garments. But, there is an evident effortless-chic-L.A. vibe that radiates from the pieces within the collection. Having the chance to meet all of the masterminds behind Beau Souci was such a cool experience. For me, it was kind of like meeting a celebrity!

2.) Taking a double decker bus tour at night around Paris

I know what you’re probably thinking: A bus tour? Such a tourist move. Alright, well it definitely is very touristy, but I highly suggest this tour if you want to see every corner of the City of Lights at night when all of the lights are shining bright. I paid 22 euros for the bus tour, and honestly, that was some of the best money I spent on the trip. The bus gave out earbuds that you could choose to wear throughout the course of the tour and I suggest that you do. The tour guide tells you facts about each monument or iconic landmark that you pass, and you’ll even get to hear tips about traveling throughout the city. Needless to say, the pictures that I took on the tour speak for themselves. Definitely consider going on a double decker bus tour, no matter what city you’re in!

3.) Shopping at the concept store Merci

This particular experience was one that I was excited about before I even left for my trip! Merci is a concept store in Paris that redecorates their store and the merchandise within it every month. Each month’s redecoration is based off of a central theme. While we were visiting, the theme was “Look at the Flowers,” so everything was floral inspired. The biggest thing to understand about this particular store is that they don’t just sell clothing — they have bathroom essentials, furniture and kitchen necessities, accessories, cosmetics, and office supplies. How cool is that?! I would love the chance to go back and see what the theme of the month is for the store. If you want a true Parisian shopping experience, you have to go to Merci!

4.) Riding the Carousel in front of the Eiffel Tower

As corny as this sounds, it was seriously one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. On our last night in Paris, we decided to go and see the Eiffel Tower’s lights. After seeing the lights, we decided to walk across the street, which had a crepe stand, a few souvenir shops and of course, the carousel. A ride on the carousel only cost 50 cents, so we couldn’t pass it up! This was a pretty long carousel ride, might I add. Once the ride was over, the clock struck 9 p.m. and the Eiffel Tower began to shine with its twinkly lights. Seriously so iconic! Also, while you’re there, you might as well get a crepe. I literally inhaled the crepe that I bought in probably two minutes — that’s how good it was. My favorite is a Nutella and banana crepe, but the flavor options are endless.

5.) Tour of the Chapal Leather showroom

I literally fell in love with this showroom from the second that we walked in! Chapal Leather is one of the most iconic leather companies in the world, and it all began in Paris. If you have ever seen the leather jackets that were worn by the Air Force during World War I, then you’ll be surprised to know that those were Chapal Leather! Chapal has been around since the early 1900s, and the showroom for the company is in the founding family’s old apartment. The most iconic and amazing thing about Chapal is that they only make custom made leather jackets. When you buy one of their custom made jackets, you can choose the leather finish, the lining, the stitching — everything! It was seriously so incredible!
