Welcome back to Stylishly Good Vibes!
I apologize for the delay in blogging. I’ve been so busy juggling far too many things at once (per usual), that the time has gotten away from me! I’m going to do the best that I can to keep the good vibes rollin’ while inspiring you to embrace your personal style!
This blog post is all about simplicity and understatement in an outfit. This particular look is something that I’ve never really done before. As you can tell from my previous blog posts, I embrace color and I love wearing it. I sometimes feel as if I’m boring when I dress in muted tones, but this outfit is anything but that. The stark, clean nature of the color combination stands out in and of itself. To me, it’s just as vibrant as wearing a pair of neon green pants. Low key used to own a pair…
This cowled neck sweater from Anthropologie is a game-changer for my wardrobe. Now on first glance, I’m sure you had the same thought process that I had.
“Why would I buy a tank top sweater…that’s basically like wearing a sweater in 80 degree weather..”
“How would I even begin to transition this into winter?”
“But wait, it’s so cute!”
I’m all for the tunic-style top, so that’s what initially attracted me to this piece. I was a little hesitant about buying it because it is white. I’ll be honest, I’m a complete mess when it comes to eating and I somehow manage to get something on me 80 percent of the time.
Worries aside, I bought it! Let’s be real…when you find something in a store and you feel like a superstar while wearing it, you’ve got to buy it!
Needless to say, I haven’t spilled anything on myself while wearing this sweater yet, so clearly it was meant to be! Must be good luck, am I right?
The cowled neck is the perfect alternative for anyone looking to subtly take on the turtleneck trend. I for one have never been the biggest fan of turtlenecks, which is why I absolutely love this cowled neck tank. It’s adjustable and comfortable, which is everything a turtleneck is not. Sorry, turtleneck sweaters.
Now, because this sweater is a neutral color, you can virtually pair it with anything in your closet. Because of its versatility, I got to thinking about how I could pair it with something that wouldn’t necessarily be expected. So, I whipped out my favorite light gray distressed denim and just went for it.
Once I looked in the mirror and saw how clean and polished the outfit looked, I was instantly hooked on wearing muted tones. I decided to take it a step further by throwing on my white Clarks’ sneakers. These slides are honestly my favorite pair of shoes right now. Although Clarks doesn’t sell them anymore, they have great sneakers that are super comfortable and fashion forward, not to mention they always have amazing sales!
For accessories, I chose this blue floral print tote because I found that the navy blue really pops against the white and light gray. Since the entire point of this outfit was to remain simple and understated, I opted for less jewelry than I usually wear. I slipped on this charm necklace that I received as a gift from Brooklyn Charm. My cousin Missy, who picked it out, chose the perfect charms for me.
My Charm Necklace:
A Guitar: Fun Fact —I’ve played guitar since the sixth grade. Am I cool yet?
A Butterfly: I’ve loved them for as long as I can remember, so it’s only right that I had a charm for one.
The State of New York
The great thing about charm jewelry is that you can customize it however you like without it becoming gaudy or clunky. If Brooklyn Charm is out of your neighborhood, there are so many other options for creating a charm necklace of your own! Go to your local craft store with a coupon in hand and buy your own chain and charms and make a project out of it. Other places that you could look for personalized charm necklaces include Etsy or any local jewelry store.
